It seems we have some fresh news on the successor of the popular Samsung Omnia smartphone. From what we’re hearing the upcoming device will be known both as the Omnia2 and i8000. Specs wise, two very important improvements are mentioned:
- 8.1 megapixel camera with dual-flash LED and ability to record video in VGA resolution at 30 fps
- 3.7-inch AMOLED WVGA (480×800 pixels) touchscreen with 16 million colors
Moreover, the TouchWiz UI will keep running the show on top of Windows Mobile, but will get a refresh.
As for the announcement date, Samsung will have a press event is on June 15th and maybe we hear something on Omnia2 then. This is not to say we have any inside info, quite the contrary, it’s just that the original Omnia is on the market for quite some time and deserves to get a “second chance.”
