Is there anyway att could find u are tethering?, because I mean you are doing the same as on the phone, how do they know wich one you are using?

Doesn’t seem to work with iPhone OS 3.1.x; probably have to downgrade to 3.0

I made the mistake of trying this on a laptop that did not have iTunes installed on it. Once I installed iTunes 8.2 on it the modem drivers were found and it worked just fine. Thanks for posting such a great mod!

I installed but have not yet seen the tethering option appear, even after network reset and reboot. Shows installed but just not there.

Hi all, Newbie here. Sorry if this question is stupid but I followed all the instructions and have enabled tethering. However, I connected to my laptop using usb to iphone, then checked “view wireless connections available” iphone did not appear as one of my options. If anyone can tell me what im doing wrong i would be very grateful.

Does itunes need to be installed to enable tethering??

I’ve got everything enabled and setup as required on my iphone.

I connect the phone via USB to computer and cannot figure out how to make use of the 3G internet connection.

I’d rather not install itunes if I dont have to.

After I use the internet, either tethering or on iphone 3g, and come back later I have to turn my phone off and back on to get it internet to work. Any suggestions?

If you lose video voice mail function, you car restore it by: General> Reset> Reset Internet Settings. The tethering will still work and the voice mail will work too.

Tethering is very easy to set up. I went to http://help.benm.at/usa.php and just clicked on the AT&T logo. then you have to follow Apple’s tethering turn on process: General> Network> Internet Tethering> ON

Does anyone know if AT&T can see that you are tethering? Has anyone got a nasty note or bill from AT&T because of tethering use?

I have lost my visual email also. Please let me know if you have found a way to remove the software and advise me in very simple terms if possible. I am not very well versed in software technology.

Any work around for Softbank Mobile coz I tried on my 3G 16 Gig but keep getting message saying “To enable Internet Tethering contact SoftbankMobile”…Please help!!!

The article fails to mention that iTunes cannot be open when you’re running the command in the terminal. Quit out of iTunes, then double-check your spelling of the commands, and try again. It works.

Hey this works just fine on my 8 gig 3g however since at&t is rolling out a monthly cost tethering plan, will this cost any extra money to use on my current plan or can is it just using my 3g phone connection?
