rhomobile-logoRhomobile today announced the compatibility of the Rhodes smartphone development framework with iPhone OS 3.0 and the recently announced iPhone 3G S. The Rhodes “write once and run on many” framework allows developers of all levels to utilize their HTML skills to create robust native applications for the new iPhone 3G S – without having to rewrite code for every OS update.

Rhodes reduces development costs by up to five times by enabling developers to code native smartphone applications in HTML instead of in Objective-C or other complex native device operating system languages. Rhodes’ unique framework allows for the creation of robust mobile applications that take full advantage of smartphone capabilities such as GPS, PIM data and camera.

“Rhodes is a very easy way to make an application for the iPhone,” said Adam Blum, CEO of Rhomobile. “The Rhodes framework enables anyone, from enterprise developers who want to mobilize their workforce to a consumer who wants to build fun and clever apps, to build powerful mobile applications with about twenty percent of the code used in iPhone apps today.”

Highlights of the platform include:

- Allows developers to write apps in HTML and simultaneously build for all smartphones

- Supports iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian and Android

- Gives full access to device capabilities: GPS, PIM contacts, camera

- Allows users to work with synced local data for rapid access and ease of operation when disconnected or offline

- Available as open source realtime on public repositories

Rhodes offers flexible pricing options suitable for a range of smartphone application efforts: providing low cost options for the enterprise to enable their mobile workforce and encouraging entrepreneurial innovation. Rhomobile offers dual license models – under GPLv3 for open source apps and commercial licensing options for enterprises and Independent Software Vendors.

If you like the sound of this, then the Rhodes framework is now available here.
