Earlier today RIM announced that the brand-new dual-mode BlackBerry Tour 9630 will be coming to us this summer on CDMA networks (Sprint (NYSE: S), Verizon (NYSE: VZ)) in the US… and EDGE/GPRS/GSM networks around the world. While many Berry addicts are now licking their chops, it’s now ‘hurry up and wait’ time. To make you salivate just a bit more, here are some key specs and details on the Tour 9630:

  • EV-DO Rev. A 3G
  • Full HTML browsing
  • Access to BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) App World (of course)
  • Advanced media player for videos, pics and music
  • 3.5 mm stereo headset jack
  • 256MB flash memory
  • Expandable memory up to 16B via microSD/SDHC memory card slot
  • BlackBerry Media Sync (for use with iTunes and Windows Media Player)
  • Edit Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) Word, Excel and PowerPoint files on the device
  • Removable and rechargeable 1400 mAhr battery for 5 hrs talk time and 14 days of standby

Lookin’ perty sweet. Naturally, after RIM made the official announcement, Sprint and Verizon followed suit very closely with mini site launches of their own…

I’ve been using Blackberries for over a year now (and have several of them to date). I’m not necessarily an “expert” on BB’s but I know more than the average user.

I’m a gadget addict with full blown Blackberry addiction :-) If you have never had one and don’t know what I mean when I say that don’t worry, you will soon enough ;-) They say once you go BlackBerry you can never go back and for the most part that is true. I have had several Blackberries on Verizon (8830 World Edition, Curve 8930, Storm 9530, and soon to be the Tour 9630) which is my preferred carrier. But I do have a line on AT&T because I could not resist the Bold any longer. Soon I will have an unlocked TMobile BB 8900 Curve and swap that back and forth with my Curve (the wonders of a SIM card).

I came across a site for the blackberry tour owners http://www.Blackberry-tour.com I hope you will also find it useful. talk care.
