HiT Barcelona: GreenFire has technology that will charge your phone in 30 seconds!

GreenFire Technologies is working on what they say is the power-bank product, which is/will be designed to quickly charge your phone. When I say quickly I mean 30 seconds, and we’re talking about regular Li-Ion batteries! Their trick is in the huge paradigm shift. They don’t talk about actually charging batteries but moving of energy from their power-bank accessory to the phone. That power-bank has some kind of battery inside that already contains electricity and the whole trick is to move that energy from a power-bank to the cell-phone’s battery. I spoke with a co-founder and he says they have a working prototype that sings along BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) phones. The planned launch is set for next year at Mobile World Congress.
Back to that accessory. It’s about the size of 3 iPhones (bit wider though) and it also has a solar panel on one side, making it an eco-friendly solution as well. When it’s launched it will cost about $100 and the price will further go down with the time (when they expand the capacity).
In addition to this home-based solution, GreenFire also plans to make large power-bank stations and offer them to mobile operators and other interested parties which would put them in stores or on the street. Just imagine – you’re in a Starbucks and there’s such station in place that allows you to fully charge your device within 30 seconds. That’s super-cool in my book. Can’t wait to grab one home-based solution as soon as it’s being offered…
