Video: Hands on with Layar, the Mobile Augmented Reality Browser, for Android

By Stefan Constantinescu on Thursday, June 18th, 2009 at 10:05 AM PST In Android, Applications

Two days ago I told you about Layar, an application developed by SPRXmobile that claims to be the world’s first Mobile Augmented Reality Browser, and today it looks like Thomas Ricker from Engadget, who just purchased a house in Amsterdam (congratulations by the way), was lucky enough to score a hands on demo:

Maarten Lens-FitzGerald, who was also in the video, has confirmed that the application will come to the Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPhone 3G S, and that partnerships with companies from the USA, Germany and UK will will be announced throughout this year. If all this application needs to work is GPS and a compass, can we pretty please get this running on S60?

Update: Raimo van der Klein of SPRXmobile just sent me this tweet after he read this blog post:

Looks like Layar will be coming to Symbian in a few months, hopefully! Thanks Raimo!
