Apple apologizes for Push Notification delays?

iPhone OS 3.0 is here! iPhone OS 3.0 is here! Oh, wait. Where’s all the Background Push Notification goodness that we were promised? Shouldn’t we be seeing massive updates to most of our iPhone apps, enabling Push Notification support? Nope, not yet. Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) just may not be ready to go live on a large scale with Push Notifications.
According to an alleged email sent to AppAdvice from iPhone developer Dominik Balogh of PoweryBase, Apple has apologized for delaying the developer’s NotifyMe application.
The release delay of Push based applications is intentional, of course. We have submitted NotifyMe 10 days ago, the same time as Beejive has submitted their new BeejiveIM version with Push capabilities. We have just received (now, sunday morning in Cupertino) an apology from Apple App Store Staff.
Balogh claims that NotifyMe performed as expected in testing, so the Push Notifications hold-up could be due to issues on Apple’s end.

My free aim app just updated for push notification. Hopefully it just updated. Idk. But they real slow with it.
I just dont understand why the hold up still. If apple plans on competing with the like of Android and Palm Pre, they really need to follow thru on what they promise, when they promise it
