While it doesn't hurt to leave in the blogs that don't update that often, my taste for what I want to read may have changed from 2 to 3 years ago when I subscribed to that blog in the first place.

Besides, going through my list of 293 gives me a series that will run over 20 episodes, and that's good for both the site, and to help people, like you and Russ, find out some feeds you may have never even heard about.

You know, I've actually rather enjoyed these posts, as I told you on Twitter, though admittedly, more just to read the explanations than to care about finding more links or weeding through my own subscriptions.

I also just read Russell Beattie's interesting response (http://www.russellbeattie.com/blog/dont-trim-me-bro), and had an interesting thought:

In light of Russell's great point, that it doesn't really hurt to leave the randomly updated feeds on there, I can't help but wonder if you should have gone into your Google Reader Trends tab, and pulled out the feeds that update more than XX times/day, and weeded through those?

Your reason for doing this, "With 293 RSS feeds and only 24 hours in my day, I desperately need to trim this sucker down. I used to be able to “hit zero,” also known as reading all my RSS items, but lately it has been impossible. I could have done this in private, during my own time, but one man’s garbage is another man’s treasure. By going through my entire list of 293 RSS feeds, 10 feeds a day, I hope that I can point you to some new sites and services you may have never heard of. I also have a strong ethos regarding sharing. If I find something interesting, awesome or worthy of attention, I share it with my friends and with the world on my Twitter account. I expect people to do the same and at the end of the day we, as a people, will put an end to boredom. I break the law too with my heavy use of bit torrent, but that’s another story all together."

would actually still work with this method - you would be eliminating the ones that are truly junking up your RSS reader, while still keeping the ones that are, even rarely, contributing somewhat to your brain. Just a thought.
