New ruggedized device from Nokia is the 3720 Classic

James picked up a story the other day on a new Nokia (NYSE: NOK) device (with no model number at the time) that was getting some harsh treatment in a video (check his post here).
Well now the ‘mystery’ regarding the name is solved – it’s the 3720 Classic.
Dailymobile.se has not only found out the name, but has got hold of the specs too:
- Water and dust resistant – ip54 certificate
- Over 2.5 weeks stand by battery
- Fm radio
- Torch
- S40
- 2,2QVGA 16mio colours
- 25MB internal memory
- MicroSD card slot
- Bluetooth
- 3.2 mpix camera
- Available september
That all seems reasonable enough – but the thing I am most interested in is the ip54 cert – that has now become the gold standard for ruggedized phones. So Nokia, if you’d like to seed us one for destruction, we’ll put it up against our other rugged devices – and see which comes out on top!
