As expected, WordPress has just announced the availability of their new blog editing app for BlackBerry, much to my personal glee. Page creation, comment moderation and, of course, blog posting are all supported, as well as picture uploading right from the device’s camera. While I would be loathe to share pictures from the Bold’s camera anywhere save Twitpic, I do use a microSD memory card with adapter in my current point-and-shoot, so a little switcheroo would make uploading quality pics to the blog while on the go simple enough. ScreamingToaster is currently working on a beta WordPress editor, but I have a feeling the guys working on the official one will probably be able to throw a bit more weight behind the app. Bold, Curve 8900, Storm and 8700 are all supported in the WordPress for BlackBerry beta – you can get started by hitting up blackberry.wordpress.org/install on your mobile browser.

In exploring RIM’s platform, he has learned what enterprises are looking for in mobility as well as what makes the innocuous BlackBerry so appealing to them. Recently Simon’s been covering RIM’s gradual move into an already-crowded consumer market, and the impact of burgeoning challengers, such as the iPhone, as well as long-time leaders, like Nokia, on BlackBerry’s advancement.
With plenty of content under his belt, Simon will be branching off a bit to see what other smartphone manufacturers are working on while still using BlackBerry as a barometer. At IntoMobile, you can count on his posts being even-handed, well-informed and thought-out.
