Concept: LG GC990 Louvre: 12.1 megapixel dumbphone that shoots 720p video

The LG GC990 was unveiled in Warsaw, Poland yesterday, as a concept to display the type of technology that LG is working on. Except for the 12.1 megapixel camera, with Schneider-Kreuznach optics, and the ability to shoot 720p video at frames per second, this device has nothing else going for it since it’s a dumbphone. If nothing changes between now and when/if the “Lourve” ships, you’ll get a 3.2 inch screen, TV out, WiFi, GPS and the ability to play DivX and XviD files.

In an official statement that LG gave to GSM Arena, who brought the world the first photos and specifications of the Louvre, the Korean handset maker would like to remind you, again, that this is a concept:

“The GC900 or ‘Louvre’ mobile phone from LG, is a great example of the type of mobile technology innovation LG is developing. This is a concept model only however, and as such there are no confirmed plans to bring it to market. As we have further details on our camera-phone portfolio or other mobiles, LG will provide information on where and when they will be available to consumers.”
