Nokia GM Says N97 Will Beat Out iPhone 3GS

Time to get your lulz in. Recently-appointed UK General Manager for Nokia (NYSE: NOK) Mike Loughran apparently isn’t shy about slinging dirt on the new iPhone 3GS.
“The new iPhone is an evolution rather than a revolution and for people trying to decide whether to get a Nokia N97 or an iPhone, it comes down to a decision on performance and value for money… The new iPhone seems to have the same design and colour, upgrading from a sub-standard two-megapixel camera to a still low 3.2-megapixel camera, and is probably a disappointment for many people given the high tariff and lifetime ownership costs.”
In the end, he believes the N97 will actually outperform the iPhone 3GS. While I’m sure in Europe the N97 will put up a better fight than over here, let’s see how it does once/if T-Mobile picks it up. Even though I largely agree with his assessment of the iPhone 3GS, it really doesn’t translate to the N97 doing better than such a popular device.

So according to Simon, N97’s 434 MHz processor running Symbian gives better performance than iPhone 3 GS with 600 MHz processor? And that iPhone with free annual upgrades has higher lifetime costs than Nokia where you need to buy a new phone if you want newer software?
Well, we’ll see after Q3 who has sold better. 5800 was supposed to sell better than iPhone and it didn’t.

Don’t believe me? Iphone 3GS is still locked to specific operators and contracts almost everywhere it’s on sale. N97 on the hand hand will be sold in every country on this planet, as SIM-locked version or unlocked, through various operators and dealers.
depends. both the iPhone 3GS and the Nokia N97 are basically at the same level. Nokia maybe has more features and a quality device that last (Depends how you treat it)and a 5 megapixel camera and a QWERTY Keyboard that slides out and video calling and a SD slot thats supports up-to 16GB but the iPhone has a UI that will bring competition to all companies and it features a 600Mhz processor well you should know that rest but Nokia needs to pick up the game a tad to bet Apple
Well Its true as i have bought a N97 through http://www.domesticutilities.com/97.htm they had this phone free on monthly line rental of 40 pounds and i can tell you that i am proud to have this phone and its better then iphone. Iphone is nice as well but because iphone is cheaper to get and almost every one got it thats y it lost its value.
