Orange UK introduces Mini-SIMs

orange logo Orange UK introduces Mini SIMsOrange UK is apparently the first Operator in Europe to introduce its Mini-SIMs. Now you might be wondering how the SIM could be reduced in size (after all, how would it fit in the handset properly), but what the Mini reference is actually for is the material that holds the SIM, until point-of-sale. Traditionally this has been of Credit Card size – now Orange have halved that material.

The saving in terms of plastic on one card might be minimal, but when you consider the billions of SIMs globally, this initiative could make quite an impact if every Operator decided to do the same.

Orange have also come up with a number of other Green initiatives, including handset recycling, and committing to the universal mobile charger initiative. Good on them I say – many small changes over time can add up to something quite substantial.
