Barnes & Noble gets an iPhone app, too

Barnes & Noble is in the AppStore, readily waiting for iPhone and iPod Touch users to grab it for free.

What’s interesting about it is the feature set that goes beyond online shopping. For instance, you could locate your closest B&N store and get maps and directions, see which stores offer coffee and Internet access, and which have some upcoming events such as author appearances, musical performances and chlidren’s storytimes.

Moreover, there’s the Discover section in the app, designed to help users find the next book to read. New releases, recommendations and video interviews with authors could be found here.

Finally, there’s a cool feature that uses camera. Simply snap a photo of the book cover and B&N’s app will find it for you, allowing you to purchase it instantly, read reviews, and so on… AppStore link is here.
