blackberry desktop manager 5 0 Attention Verizon BlackBerry Tour 9630 Owners: BlackBerry Desktop Manager 5.0 Included on Your Verizon BlackBerry User Tools CD!

Here’s a cool little story. Adam over at CrackBerry recently picked up a shiny new Verizon BlackBerry Tour 9630. After popping the box and getting her going, the device wasn’t working as he had hoped. Backups weren’t running right and he was getting nothing but errors. In hopes of fixing the problems, he removed the current version of his Desktop Manager (4.7) and reached for the BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) User Tools CD that came with the device from Verizon (NYSE: VZ). Long story short, after starting installation all over again, he noticed BlackBerry Desktop Manager 5.0 was installing! Kinda cool and strange, especially when you consider this software isn’t available from BlackBerry.com yet. Surely if the software is coming packaged with the Tour… we’ve got to see it available online soon, right?

Important note: We already have seen this available online here, but it was not an official version. One knew this was coming… Now we only have to wait a tad for the BDM 5.0 to pop up on BlackBerry.com. Shouldn’t be long.

Running Vista on a Dell Studio 17. Bought the tour. Loaded the CD and it locked up the computer beyond belief!!!!! Screen turned black and I couldn’t even use the task manager to shut it down. Had to manually shut down the power. Started up and ejected the disk.
