It seems Modu is gearing towards (finally) launching its jacket-friendly mobile phone. According to Israeli financial newspaper, Calcalist, the company’s employees were asked to deposit their existing phones and start using the new Modu devices.

Apparently, Modu will initially launch with Israeli operator Cellcom later in the month. They will be responsible for their own marketing, as they try to explain people the idea of changeable jackets.

I said it before and I’m repeating it again – they should partner with Motorola. The American handset maker would get an innovative product and Modu would get scale.

We’ll see how that launch goes…
