Sony Ericsson just reported their Q2 2009 results and they’re not pretty. The company shipped 13.8 million units, with an average selling price of 122 EUR. Compare that to last quarter, which saw Sony Ericsson selling 14.5 million units with an ASP of 120 EUR. Even worse is when you compare these results to this time last year when Sony Ericsson sold 24.4 million units with an ASP of 116 EUR. The trend seems to be fewer units, with a higher average selling price. Gross margin is improving at 12% compared to 8% last quarter, but profits for this quarter are non-existing. Sony Ericsson lost 213 million EUR, which is an improvement since last quarter they lost 293 million EUR. This time last year Sony Ericsson made 6 million EUR. Those were better days.
