Gaming heavyweight, Blizzard, has just announced a mobile app for iPhone and iPod Touch to provide players with access to their World of Warcraft Armory database. What can you find in there? Just about everything – event calendars, equipment lookups, player-versu-player information, and lots more. For those of you who don’t know one of the 11 million WoW players out there, the game is what you call a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game (a.k.a. partnering up with your buddies to kill some dragons over the internet).

The Armory has been a web-based database available for awhile now, catching up to third parties who have been doing it for awhile, like Allakhazam, Thottbot and Wowhead, through data volunteered by players in-game. Unfortunately, those sites will have some tough competition when the game producer itself starts unloading awesome stuff like this. As a card-carrying level 80 Tauren Hunter, I’m pretty pumped about this – maybe it’s time to get off my ass and finally update my iPod Touch… It would be nice if they release the app for other platforms too, though. For more info, hit up the Armory, or go on and download it from iTunes.
