Accenture to acquire Nokia’s Symbian Professional Services

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) announced that its Symbian Professional Services unit will be acquired by Accenture, a move that will see about 165 Nokia employees being transferred to Accenture.
Those not familiar should know that Nokia’s unit in question provides “engineering consulting and product development services on a global basis to mobile phone manufacturers, as well as chip manufacturers and mobile operators.” Among the service they offer are advanced technical support; techniques for enhancing performance, memory and power; advanced error diagnosis and repair; and turnkey software development services.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close by the end of Q3 2009.
