Nokia trademarks reveal new Xseries lineup, possible Eseries devices, and new “Nokia Money” service

Yesterday I told you guys about Nokia’s new Cseries lineup that was revealed via a Finnish trademark registration site. Aleksi Moisio from Finnish news site Digitoday discovered a new lineup of devices called Xseries on OAMI’s (The Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market) website. I could stop here and that alone would be enough for a blog post, but since it is Sunday and I have nothing better to do, I decided to poke around OAMI, and Finnish website Prh, to see what other trademarks I could find. I hit the proverbial jackpot. Just a reminder: Companies trademark words and model numbers all the time, but it does not mean they are going to use them. Nokia (NYSE: NOK), last time I checked, never created a device with the number 4 in the model name. It’s also strange to see a large number of Eseries trademarked, yet few Nseries, and zero of regular (i.e. 6300, 1200, etc.) devices.
Nokia Money: Trademark was filed on July 16, 2009. Description: “Computer software to enable mobile telephones to transfer money from one bank account to another bank account.” And: “Financial transaction services, namely, providing secure commercial transactions and payment options using a mobile device at a point of sale.” Is Nokia trying to become the next VISA?
Booklet: Trademark was filed on June 20, 2009. Description: “Computers, laptops, smart phones; accessories for computers, laptops and smart phones.” Possible name for Nokia’s netbook?
Ilo by Nokia: Trademark was filed on November 15, 2007.
Nokia E82: Trademark was filed on September 14, 2007.
For reference purposes, the Nokia E72, which was announced on June 15, 2009, had a trademark filed on September 20, 2006!
Nokia E53, E54, E56, E57, E58, E59, E64, E67, E68, E69, E74, E76, E77, E78, E79, E81, E83, E84, E86, E87, E88, E89, E91, E92, E93, E94, E95, E97, E98, E99: Trademark was filed on September 20, 2006.
Nokia E73, E80, E85, E96: Trademark was filed on June 19, 2006.
Nokia N83: Trademark was filed on June 09, 2006.

I’m happy for new device classes. I hope this means more clarity in the positioning of devices. A flagship should be best in class, and lately Nokia’s haven’t. This should clear things up. I think the Xseries will become their top of the line series.

Check whether Nokia has applied for any patents to do with Nokia Money. (Look at the European Patent Office or the Finnish Patent Office, etc.)
That would be really interesting because it’ll show whether they’ve truly innovated and are going to be offering something brand new to the market place, technology-wise. The TM is just the badge: the patent is the technology behind it.

I bought a Nokia E53 last week from a shop nearby.I am just wondering if why is that when i’ve checked at the website Nokia.com for the software support for this model Nokia E53,I could not able to find this model at their website knowingly that it is brand of Nokia.Please i need some help for this.Thank you.
