Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) is the largest mobile operator in the world, spread out in 25 countries under the Vodafone brand, and partnering with operators in 42 other nations. When they make a decision, it ripples through out the entire industry. Nokia (NYSE: NOK) purchased NAVTEQ for over $8 billion with the intention of becoming the world’s best, and largest, provider of maps. That may still be possible, but it isn’t going to be with the help of Vodafone. Today Tele Atlas announced that they’re going to provide all location based services, including 3D landmark, 2D city maps and over 24 million points of interest, to Vodafone. Tele Atlas 1 : Nokia 0.
