Handset maker ZTE is going to ship a smartphone by the end of this year based on China Mobile’s modified version of Android known as Open Mobile System. It is going to support 3G, but the Chinese version known as TD-SCDMA, not the world wide versions we know today as WCDMA and HSPA. It’s also been reported that Samsung, LG and Motorola are going to be releasing devices running Open Mobile System, but no time frame has been given. I’m really curious to see what Chine Mobile did to the UI as Asian countries usually fit a lot more information on a screen due to their complex character based language. Screenshot above is taken from a Lenovo smartphone running the Open Mobile System.
