Study: If you’re a business you’ll probably overspend on wireless service

Not that businesses aren’t already prone to overspending, but a new study from Gartner indicates that 80% of enterprise wireless customers will pay too much for wireless service through 2014. The research shows that costs for mobile enterprise services have grown, but many businesses aren’t managing their expenses.
“Our research shows that the majority of companies are not adequately managing their mobile users or services,” said Phil Redman, research vice president at Gartner. Enterprise users would do well to better match their employees with the right service options.
Gartner says that businesses will overpay for wireless service by an average of 15%. While that number might not sound that outrageous, consider larger companies that need to provide wireless service for dozens or hundreds of employees. If you though your personal monthly wireless bill was inflated, just imagine a mid- to large-sized corporation. That 15% wasted could really amount to a lot. We’re sure carriers just love hearing that.
