Meet Robochan, the iPhone 3GS robot!

By Will Park on Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 at 10:35 AM PST In Apple, Hottest Hardware, iPhone OS

When will geeks’ obsession with smartphone-controlled robots end? Well, if they’re half as cool as Robochan, we hope it never does! Meet Robochan, a Kondo KHR-2HV humanoid robot controlled by an iPhone 3GS that also serves as the ‘bot’s head and face. Robochan comes to life with the iPhone 3GS connected through the dock connector. The iPhone 3GS can be used to control Robochan and displays different facial expressions – good for predicting when your wayward humanoid robot is planning to lash out at its human overlords.

  1. Daniel Perez says:

From my Otaku-ness, I can tell you one of the faces that is used is the popular Vocaloid character, Hatsune Miku. She’s the character with the green hair and holds a piece of celery (not sure as to why though, just accept it I guess).

This is an awesome idea and it reminds me of WowWee’s Robosapien toys. The more recent iterations actually allow you to teach the Robosapien dance moves in a similar fashion as seen in this video. I wonder what they about this video as they pride themselves on being the leader of this kind of technology.

  2. If they could program it to open up the fridge and grab me a beer… I’d buy three.
