Trenitalia iPhone app

Italian railway, Trenitalia, is joining the iPhone wave with a free application in the AppStore. Created by Promptu Systems Corporation, the new app enables users to search timetables, check train punctuality, buy tickets, and change bookings — all while on-the-go. Moreover, it uses Promptu’s Network Speech Recognition (NSR) platform, allowing users to simply speak their trip details to search schedules and initiate ticket purchases…

In a nutshell, it’s one of those apps every Italian will need at some point — and eventually some tourists — and in that sense we hope to see it hitting other mobile platforms, as well. In the meantime, more information about Promptu’s mobile offering is available from their website, and you should search for the dedicated Trenitalia iPhone app in the AppStore (note: it’s not in all local AppStores).
