The iPhone’s large 3.5-inch display already makes it a perfect fit for mobile movie watchers. According to this latest rumor, the iPhone is about be become a movie-lover’s dream. There are whispers of Netflix preparing to bring their “Watch Instantly” streaming movie service to the iPhone and iPod Touch.
It’s unclear how Netflix plans to push on-demand streaming content to the iPhone, but considering how much bandwidth streaming video requires, we’re probably going to see the service limited to WiFi connections (Slingplayer Mobile for iPhone is limited in exactly this way). Netflix may release an iPhone application through the AppStore, or launch a web portal with iPhone-compatible video streaming.
Hulu is also still rumored to be developing an iPhone application that would allow users to stream from Hulu’s online library of movies and TV shows whenever and wherever they please.
Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long to see if this Netflix rumor pans out.
