T-Mobile nixes Android data plan features

T-Mobile (NYSE: DT)’s unlimited data plan for Android smartphones is one of the best deals for unlimited web surfing in the US. T-Mobile G1 customers get all-you-can-eat wireless data for just $25 a month. And, T-Mobile sweetens the deal by throwing 400 free SMS text messages into the pot. Or at least, they had sweetened the deal. New reports are indicating that T-Mobile is no longer offering 400 free text messages with the Android Unlimited Web.
The Android Unlimited Web data plan still costs $25 per month. But, that price no longer includes text messages. T-Mobile offers individual text message bundles, or an Android Unlimited Web + Unlimited Messaging plan that offers unlimited data and messaging for $35 a month. T-Mobile is probably looking to give customers a bit of an “incentive” to upgrade their data plans to include unlimited text messages.
Consider yourself put on notice.

looks more like a strategy to promote google voice on android which comes with unlimited sms for free
Man, is this old news! This made the rounds late June when the change occurred.
One correction: Now that TMO requires data plans for smartphones like the G1, Dash 3G, and Highlight, the choices are limited to “all or none” messaging. One can only choose between the $25 no messaging and the $35 unlimited messaging. A la carte options aren’t available for smartphones.
The Google Voice app won’t get pulled for Android users. Free SMS!!!
