Amazon Android app

After the iPhone and BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM), Amazon released its mobile application for Android-powered smartphones, allowing Google (NSDQ: GOOG) fans (and other Android handset users) to shop on-the-go.

There are over 40 product categories and thousands of other merchants to pick from. You can either browse or search for product, the way you used to on the “real” website. Moreover, from the application you can access your account, shopping cart, wish lists, track orders, get personalized recommendations, change settings, and so on. The most important thing is that the app is secure, meaning you can safely do your shipping using all the benefits of the 1-Click no-hassle procedure.

Finally, and this is where it gets really interesting, the application uses the phone’s camera for “remembering” products through snapshots and can also work with barcodes, which is ultra cool. Plus, if you’re using “Amazon Remembers,” the app can notify you when the items you’ve submitted for finding are found in the store. Cool again! Look for it in the Android Market…
