Australia’s Woolworths is joining the likes of Carefour and Tesco to go beyond retail business. They’ve announced plans to set up its own MVNO pre-paid service called “Everyday Mobile” with Optus.
The service will be offered to the customers in Woolworths and Safeway supermarkets, as well as BIG W and Dick Smith stores. Moreover, aside from the mentioned places, credit recharge will also be available at participating Caltex Woolworths co-branded fuel outlets, Dan Murphy’s and BWS stores.
According to Woolworths’ General Manager of Customer Engagement, Richard Umbers, with more than 21 million pre-paid mobile recharge transactions being processed through Woolworths group stores each year, the company already has extensive experience in the mobile market. “Our stores are already a destination for pre-paid mobile users. We also have a well established distribution network of more than 3,000 stores throughout Australia,” he added.
