Opera, the Norwegian company who makes one of my favorite all time mobile applications Opera Mini, has admitted both via Twitter (above) and with an interview at PC Magazine, that they’re going to launch a version of Opera Mobile specifically for Android. Now I know what you’re thinking, isn’t the browser inside Android devices already the most advanced browser on the market? True as that may be, Opera Mobile has a feature known as Turbo which is a key differentiator and may have many people switching. It utilizes a client server solution to compress websites, which in turn increases rendering speed and battery life. No details were given with regards to timeline. While there is no version of Opera Mobile for the Symbian platform that has the Turbo feature, I still do most of my browsing with Opera Mini since it does the same thing via a Java application versus native.
