Sprint Launches Rugged Motorola r765IS

Sprint has officially released the Motorola (NYSE: MOT) r765IS, a beefy and rugged handset running on Sprint (NYSE: S)’s iDEN network for snappy, terse, and immediate push-to-talk communication. Up to 20 people can talk across the U.S. using the Group Connect function, but if you’ve got something a little more top secret to discuss, the standard one-on-one Direct Connect is also an option. The r765IS is certified for military-grade ruggedization, and offers text communication options for when the gunfire’s too loud, and GPS to make sure you’re outside the air strike zone. We first saw this one back in April; why the delay? Clearly it failed boot camp or something, and had to straighten up and flight right. I can only imagine what a cell phone drill sergeant looks like. If you want one, you better mean business, because it’ll cost a little under $2000 up front.
