HD Video: First look at the LG BL40, a device that goes where no wide screen has gone before

Let me preface this by saying I think the LG BL40 is a terrible mobile fone. It’s insanely long, the UI is that funky S-Class nonsense, which is trying to rip off Samsung’s TouchWIZ, which itself isn’t a very good source of inspiration. This device is supposed to be for the fashion crowd, but they’re already using the iPhone 3GS. HSDPA, 5 megapixel camera, non of the specifications are really going to save it from the way it looks. What bothers me the most about this fone is the amount of money LG threw at some design firm to make a flashy video that shows potential customers a user experience that is nothing like what they’re actually going to be using in real life. LG isn’t the only one guilty of this, remember the fancy Nokia (NYSE: NOK) N97 videos?
