Drive-Up Meet-Up with IntoMobile in Menlo Park!

If you haven’t already, mark your calendars for Thursday, August 20, 2009 @ 6:30pm. In just a couple days, we’re celebrating our arrival to the SF Bay Area with a little get-together we’re calling our “Drive-Up Meet-Up.” IntoMobile and waze invite all SF Bay Area mobile geeks to come out and have some free food and drink and watch our guerilla-style cinema (the movie will be “Bullitt,” of course). We’re also giving away cool mobile-related prizes, the Grand Prize being an iPhone 3GS!

The idea is to use waze’s new traffic-navigation service (available on Android and iPhone) to find your way to the “Drive-Up Meet-Up.” You’ll get to see the crowd-sourcing aspect of waze’s service and get real-time GPS navigation through the fastest possible route.

Here are the details:

• Date/Time: Thursday August 20, 2009 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm
• Location: Tesla Motors’ Menlo Park Store parking lot (300 El Camino Real, Menlo Park, CA. 94025)
• RSVP: Please RSVP by leaving a comment below (or in this post or on Facebook). The event will be kid/pet/hipster friendly, so don’t be shy about bringing the family out for good eats and mobile-treats!

How to participate:

1. Download waze onto your smartphone. It’s FREE! (watch the waze demo here)
   • Android users download here.
   • iPhone users download here. (iTunes link)
2. Leave from anywhere in the SF Bay Area around 5:30pm – 6:00pm
3. Enter “300 El Camino Real, Menlo Park, CA. 94025″ into the “Search” field.
4. Use the app to find your way to the event. Remember to keep the application running while your driving.
   • All Drivers: If the route is wrong just drive the correct way and you will be teaching Waze
   • Along the way chomp as many points as you can and test out the app (Integrate road tweets from settings, record new roads, report traffic or hazards). You’re actually updating the map in real time by doing this!
5. Converge at the Tesla Motors Menlo Park dealership @ 6:30PM

If you don’t have a compatible smartphone, don’t worry, you’re still invited. Raffles will be open to anyone and everyone – as long as you RSVP by leaving a comment below (or in this post or on Facebook). Remember to RSVP, otherwise, you won’t have a chance to win any of our cool prizes!

Everyone is invited. We’ll have kids and at least one dog at the party, so don’t be shy about bringing the entire family out for the night. Hipsters are encouraged to leave The Mission and come hang out with us geeksters.
