AT&T BlackBerry Bold Update Arriving This Afternoon

An official BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) Bold update is around the corner for AT&T (NYSE: T) customers, offering a few small tweaks and updates.
- general handset optimizations
- the ability for the user to manually select whether they want their smartphone to connect to either 2G and 3G networks, depending on availability, or to connect to only to 2G networks
- a download icon for AT&T’s Visual Voicemail service, plus a variety of additional icons for applications including MobiTV, Mobile Banking, Tetris and Scrabble
The visual voicemail update went live yesterday afternoon (call customer services and use service code BBVV), but let’s face it, this update would be worth it for Tetris and Scrabble alone. I’m surprised that you guys down south don’t have the option chose between 2G and 3G networks, though – that’s something I’ve been using on Rogers (NYSE: RCI) in Canada since the Bold launched a year ago. If you’re a keener for free visual voicemail or just want to cash in on some free games, go to Options – Advanced Options – Wireless Update to get started.
