Korean mobile software developer – Diotek, which we’ve covered in the past, has unveiled its new multi-lingual text entry software, SmartFinger 1.0, for Windows Mobile smartphones. The finger-friendly application supports entry of text in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Korean; while at the same time providing two kinds of QWERTY keyboards with key alignment optimized by each language and handwriting recognition features.
Apparently, the “optimal user interface” (whatever that means) is there to make it easier for users to press keys and handwrite with their finger, making stylus obsolete. In addition, Diotek argues that with SmartFinger you will be able to input text with ease even while on-the-move. Moreover, they say it will work with devices with capacitive touchscreens (is there some WinMo handset with such a display?), and allow for accurate handwriting entry by using a finger on a tight screen.
If you’re a hard-core WinMo user who likes handwriting recognition mumbo-jambo, you may be interested to give Diotek’s SmartFinger a chance. Free 15-day trial version is there to help you make this leap. Forward? You be the judge…
