verizon Verizon investigating how to stop making you accidentally give them money

Most mobile phones these days have either a dedicated icon, or hardware button, that when pressed will pull up the web browser. Verizon (NYSE: VZ) Wireless customers who push that button and don’t have a data plan of any sort rack up a fee of $1.99. This happens each and every time a user opens the browser. “It is obvious to us that we need to fix this aspect of our service” said Verizon Wireless spokesman Tom Pica. No shit Tom, you think? How about this one, learn from the company across the pond that owns you, Vodafone (NYSE: VOD), and instead of making your customers scared shitless of going online due to crazy fees, encourage them to go online for a slightly less ridiculous price. Tom later said “the company is refunding data charges to subscribers who complain”. Fantastic. Why not change the corporate motto to: “Verizon Wireless, we give you the best service and prices, but only after you complain.”
