IM+ 3.4 Bringing Voice Recognition Tweets to iPhone

Whether you’re a Twitter fanatic with thumbs calloused from tapping out 140-character tweets, or just looking for a more convenient way to tweet your thoughts, there’s an iPhone app for you. Or, rather, there will be an iPhone app for you. IM+ 3.4, one of the iPhone’s more popular multi-service instant messaging clients, will soon become the first iPhone Twitter client to support voice recognition. That means you’ll be able to speak your tweets and have IM+ 3.4 convert your speech into tweet. And, it’ll even animate those smiley emoticons that you love so much.

IM+ 3.4 isn’t yet available for the iPhone, but Redmond Pie managed to get a pre-release look at the upcoming iPhone app. The multi-service IM client still supports still supports services like Twitter, Skype Chat, Facebook, Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Talk, Yahoo, Windows Live, AOL, ICQ, MySpace and Jabber (that’s a mouthful), but adds in voice recognition to make messaging as easy as recording a voice clip. Judging by Redmond Pie’s hands-on video, IM+ 3.4 looks to be fairly good at converting human speech.

In return for transcribing your voice to instant messages, IM+ will charge you $0.99 per month. The app itself will cost you $9.99. It’s not cheap, but if push notifications and voice recognition are important enough, the price might make sense for you.
