Last December Dusan wrote about Vertu, Nokia (NYSE: NOK)’s premium line of mobile phones built by hand in Britain out of extremely high quality materials, possibly starting an MVNO in Japan and opening up a store in Japan. Nearly 9 months later, it finally happened. Launching today, the Vertu MVNO will be available to customers at a whopping 52,500 Japanese yen ($565) per month or 577,500 Japanese yen ($6,205) per year. You’re obviously going to have to pick up a Vertu device as well, and those things start at $5,000 and only go up from there. The service includes 24/7 concierge which you can dial at any time of the day, any day of the year; useful when you need your tentacle rape manga fix and can’t find the nearest comic book shop. A Vertu shop will also be opening up in the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi department store. And you thought your monthly bill was expensive?
