LG Rumor2 Virgin Mobile USA Virgin Mobile USA launches LG Rumor2

Here’s a bit of good news for text message power-users out there on a budget. The texting-friendly QWERTY slider LG Rumor2 is now available from prepaid carrier Virgin Mobile USA (NYSE: VM). Sprint (NYSE: S) already offers the LG Rumor2, and now that it plans to acquire Virgin Mobile USA, the two carriers will give customers a choice when it comes to buying a Rumor2 – prepaid through Sprint or wireless contract through Virgin.

The LG Rumor2’s QVGA 240 x 320 screen, 1.3 megapixel camera, and Stereo Bluetooth support puts the text messaging handset firmly in low- to mid-end territory – which is perfect for text-happy teens. And, with Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Maps for Mobile and the Opera Mini web browser pre-loaded onto the phone, the LG Rumor2 should keep you well connected.

Virgin Mobile USA is offering the LG Rumor2 for $129.99. Radio Shack will kick off exclusive sales in September, with Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Target following in October. The best part? No contract needed.

It’s awesome that they finally have a phone worth buying. who knows maybe virgin mobile will get rid of all their crap phones (but keep rumor 2 and x-TC because those are not crap) and get some good ones like the Samsung Rant and Motorola Razr Ve20. And have the Motorola Razr V3m as their $20.00 phone. and their $9.00 phone would be the Samsung SPH-M300. trust me if they added a lot of sprint phones. their sales would really increse

    They should get the instinct.

  3. Pen says:

It’s all very well that they have a half decent phone but it’s not worth the sad service or the poor network. I got rid of my Virgin phone and I’m not going back. Now I hear that they are giving phones away to the poor, you are the one who will pay for it, not me.

It’s actually the other way around. Sprint does contracts, Virgin provides prepaid phones.

Virgin Mobile’s service is excellent where I live. I never have dropped calls or problems hearing the person on the other line, and they never have problems hearing me, either. Pen, so what if they give phones to the poor? So the poor don’t deserve to have a phone? Tracfone gives phones away to low income people and families as well. Nothing wrong with being able to stay connected to people in a rough economy. Not everyone can afford the luxury of a phone.

I think the Rumor2 looks awesome, and I can’t wait to get one! I wonder what other Sprint phones will be next?

  6. Merle Lindt says:

Maybeyou could look into this rumor about Virgin Mobile.

Are they offering a low-cost plan for unemployed and other people who need a basic phone w/o the big bills? I keep hearing that they make a $10 a month plan available for those who can’t afford more but I don’t see it on their site.

Do they have it? If so why don’t they announce it?

  7. Lester says:

This looks like a great little phone… but I agree with Pen, what is up with the welfare phone thing..? I don’t understand how Virgin can give phones away to the poor. Sure poor people deserve phones, IF they can afford them! The problem for me is that these welfare phones will be subsidized by my payments. I’m moving to a carrier that uses my payments to better the service I receive, not pay for poor people to phone their buddies.
