mobile world congress fira barcelona 300x225 Nokia: We dont need no Mobile World Congress booth!Nokia (NYSE: NOK)’s Mobile World Congress booth never fails to impress. Year after year, we’re greeted by well-mannered Nokia reps willing to give us handset demos galore. The next Mobile World Congress will be different. Nokia has announced that it will not have a booth presence on the showfloor at Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona, Spain. Instead, Nokia will be concentrating on using their booth-budget (which can easily amount to more than the cost of some homes in certain parts of the US) to promote the handsets that were announced at Nokia World 2009.

Nokia says that they’ve traditionally seen the “biggest benefit for the infrastructure part of our business and therefore in 2010 Nokia Siemens Networks will continue to have a stand in the exhibition area.” Nokia, as the handset maker, won’t be displaying anything in the Fira Barcelona convention center. But, they will be at MWC 2010.

Rather than go all-out with an elaborate booth, Nokia says that they will “be focusing on the congress programme of seminars and speaking opportunities, customer and media activities.” We’re taking that statement to mean that Nokia will be throwing some fun media parties and will bring their A-game to press-only showcases.

That’s fine by us.
