arkanoid

Any regular reader here at IntoMobile knows I love the retro games. Love ‘em. Eat ‘em up. That’s why, when I noticed Arkanoid in the App Store this morning, I almost went crazy! The classic game has been available in the App Store since the end of August, and honestly, I can’t wait to sit down for a session of one of the original paddle/ball games.

Controls are easy and intuitive. Slide your finger across the screen to control your paddle, er, sorry… I mean, ‘VAUS spaceship’. Move it from side to side and bounce the ball, er, sorry again… I mean ‘energy ball’ up into the ‘space wall’, destroying one brick at a time.

Over 100 stages are available, and there’s a branching level progression (neat). The developers at TAITO have also noted that there are some ‘clever additions’ added in that we won’t want to miss. I wonder what they are?

I’d classify this as a must have for any retro gamer. The price tag is a little steep at $4.99, but if it brings that little smile to your face when you pop it open… chances are it was worth the purchase :)

Check out Arkanoid in the App Store (iTunes link).
