Verizon, Sprint: BlackBerry Tour Trackball is Fine

BlackBerry 9630 Trackball Verizon, Sprint: BlackBerry Tour Trackball is FineYesterday a report went out that carriers were experiencing return rates on the BlackBerry Tour approaching 50% due to the trackball malfunctioning, but Verizon (NYSE: VZ) and Sprint (NYSE: S) have today both denied the figure; Verizon even went so far to say that the BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) 9630 has a lower-than-average return rate. I’d really like to believe that those who have had troubles with the trackball are a vocal minority, but the sheer volume of corroborating complaints is really disconcerting. Hopefully this was a manufacturing defect earlier in the production run, and the issue has since been fixed, but if you happen to be shopping for a Tour, be sure to try out that trackball before leaving the store. For a closer look at the device, take a look at our hands-on review.
