BlackBerry Instant Messaging Clients Updated

BlackBerry IMupdate BlackBerry Instant Messaging Clients UpdatedOn top of MySpace and Facebook apps for BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) getting some updates; all of the native Windows Live, Google Talk, Yahoo!, AOL, and ICQ instant messengers have been updated, thanks to the new BlackBerry Internet Service. Here are some of the features available in version 2.5.27 of the apps:

  • Add dedicated icons to the Home Screen for one-click access to conversation boxes of specific contacts. The icon appears as the contact’s display picture or avatar.
  • Add contacts and display pictures or avatars to the address book to easily instant message, email, SMS, or call right from the address book or conversation box.
  • Search through saved conversations
  • Add dedicated emoticon icons in the conversation box

Like Facebook and MySpace, these apps are likely in preparation for the launch of OS 5.0, so if you’re rocking a leaked firmware, these should work just fine, at least on the Bold.
