All hail iPhone OS 3.0! It’s only by the good grace of iPhone OS 3.0’s new third-party accessory support that Griffin’s new iTrip FM Transmitter n cawork in harmony with a custom iPhone app. The refreshed iTrip plugs directly into the iPhone’s dock connector, and features manual frequency tuning as well as a SmartScan feature that automatically finds the best radio frequency to broadcast on. And, in addition to hardware buttons that control music playback, the all-new iTrip Controller App for iPhone gives you control over the  iTrip’s frequency presets, manual tuning and even the SmartScan feature. What about charging the iPhone, you ask? Yep, it’s possible with a microUSB pass-through connection.

The iTrip Controller App is available for free (iTunes link) from the AppStore, but the new iTrip will cost you $49.99.
