Say what you will about S60 in its current state today, but when it came out it was quite revolutionary. Hannu Pirskanen, who was a part of the early S60 UI concepting phase, as well as the Chief UI Designer of the Nokia 6110, died last week in his home town of Oulu, Finland. Christian Lindholm, another famous designer, broke the news and said it best:

Hannu was not known to the outside world, but his designs have touched more than 1/6 of the human population so if you ever used a Nokia it had a small part of Hannu in it. At Nokia he was respected for his ability to simplify incredible complexity.

Rest in peace.
