Jabra STONE Preview

It seems like it was just yesterday when we reported on Jabra’s teaser for their upcoming bluetooth headset, the Jabra STONE.  Well, in fact, it was just yesterday.  Although the countdown for the release of the Jabra STONE just began, it didn’t stop them from sending out units to members of the press to check out.  Yours truly was one of the few selected to get a first look at this ground-breaking bluetooth headset that is said to “look, feel, and sound better than anything I’ve tried before.”

Jabra STONE Preview 2

First off, the Jabra STONE looks like an actual stone at first glance, but that is obviously just to fool you into thinking it’s a stone.  There aren’t any buttons or an earpiece on the exterior of the device, but I’m sure that’s just a facade to the brilliant technology that’s ready to burst from the innards of this device.

Syncing the Jabra STONE to my phone was quite a challenge.  With no physical buttons, how exactly would one connect the Jabra STONE to a bluetooth device.  Then it hit me.  The Jabra STONE is so advanced, that it probably doesn’t require any button presses in order for it to sync with your device of choice. Brilliant Jabra!

Now that I was able to sync my Jabra STONE to my phone (although it still didn’t show up as a connected bluetooth device, I’m sure that’s just a stealth feature), I proceeded to stick the headset into my ear.  With no actual earpiece to stick into my ear, this posed as another challenge of actually being able to use the device.  The Jabra STONE is such an advanced bluetooth headset, it doesn’t NEED an earpiece.  The solution is quite simple: Scotch tape.

After attempting to use the Jabra STONE, I have reason to believe what I was sent was an actual stone.  With no visible buttons, earpiece, or even a mini-USB port to charge the “device”, I guess you can consider this article a preview of a rock.  Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to go find a lake to throw this sucker into.

I’ve had 5 or 6 Jabras in the past.

Not one of them sounded anywhere near qualitative at the person that I was connected to.

    Nothing beats a Jawbone Prime.

    Jabra – Am I wrong?

If so, send me an evaluation unit. Get in touch with me via E-Mail for shipping information.
