Brief: Motorola: All the devices we sell for less than $150 are not made by us

Motrola, in a move to save money, has decided to out source all devices that retail for $150 or below according to Chinese publication United Daily News. That’s over 40 million devices a year. Instead of having to build a factory, pay workers, buy components, and whatever other logistical nightmares are associated with building something in China, the company decided instead to simply slap their brand onto something that was built by someone else. The chips inside those devices will be made by MediaTek, which is known for making ultra cheap, yet reliable chips. Fact: Almost all the Chinese clones use MediaTek chips.
