diggBy simply searching for “digg” in the AppStore, you’ll see there are quite a few apps that can work with the popular social news service. However, the official app isn’t on the list, at least not yet. And that’s about to change.

In an interview with video podcasters Arnt Eriksen and Thomas Moen during the FOWA conference in London, Digg’s Kevin Rose revealed that the official Digg iPhone app is coming. We don’t have the exact release date, but we’re thinking it will happen sooner rather than later.

The question is – will you “digg” on your iPhone or just check for the hottest stories? It’s also interesting to note why it took so long for Digg to embrace Apple’s mobile platform. They are big Apple fans as far as I can tell. Go figure.
