NokiaSiemensNokia Siemens is at it again. This time they’ve won a contract from Unitech Wireless as its exclusive supplier to implement and manage its GPRS core network for a 3-year term. Nokia Siemens put into place IP/Multi Protocol Layer Switching (MPLS) among other things… and yes, they’ll deploy and monitor the network via their NetAct network management system as well.

Urs Pennanen, the man in charge of the India region for NS commented on the deal:

“The mobile data surge is happening now…Gearing up for launch by end of this year, our solution will enable Unitech Wireless to meet the demands of increased user traffic – both from a service and cost point of view. For us this partnership is especially significant since it proves we are the clear number 1 for packet core implementations in the Indian market.”

Congrats to all involved. Now go out and get ‘er done!
