AT&T 3G goes 850Mhz in Colorado

AT&T’s 3G network just got a little better for Colorado. Big Blue has migrated its 3G services to the better-performing 850Mhz band in Colorado, bringing increased 3G reception and improved 3G performance to the Boulder, Denver, Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland, and the Front Range areas.
The lower frequency 850Mhz band is better at penetrating solid objects (like buildings) than the 1900Mhz band that AT&T (NYSE: T) also uses. That means better indoor reception, and ultimately better 3G performance (more bars means faster data speeds). This latest announcement is part of AT&T’s ongoing effort to migrate its entire 3G network to the 850Mhz band to improve service across the board.
Now, if AT&T could just bring their 7.2Mbps HSDPA service to more than a handful of metro areas in the US, we’d be happy campers.

I live in Colorado and have definitely noticed an improvement on my AT&T 3G signal strength and data rates.
Ditto, thanks at&t
Its not on 850MHz down here in the southern half of the metro area. Parker, highlands ranch, aurora, littleton, englewood are all still on 1900MHz for 3G. I was up at 8th and York St, and was still on 1900MHz as well, so I hope they bring it more south.
Big Blue? I must be showing my age (And I’m not that old), but Big Blue has always been IBM to me.
The Fixer is right. “Big Blue” immediately caught my eye. So then I had to recheck and make sure I was reading about ATT, because Big Blue is IBM. I think I missed the point of this article because I was so distracted bythe theft of the name “Big Blue”. I hope someone who cares at IBM saw this posting.
